Itinerary for the One-Day Tour Bromo Sunrise

Package trips leave Surabaya or Malang around midnight. The goal is to see the sunrise, Bromo scenery, and Mount Bromo crater all in one day. The journey will end in Surabaya or Malang.

Itinerary:

Day 1

  • 00.00am Pick up from Surabaya-Malang and ETD to Sukapura village
  • 02.30am ETA: From Sukapura village, transfer cars with 4WD and depart to the Penanjakan/Kingkong Hill vantage point.
  • 03.30am ETA Penanjakan/Kingkong Hill view point; enjoy the sunrise and Bromo vista from above 2,700 m; continue to love Hill Bromo.
  • 06.00am ETD to Bromo Desert
  • 06.15am ETA Bromo Desert and Sightseeing
  • 07.00am Approximately 2 kilometers of trekking to the Bromo crater, sightseeing, and a visit to the Pura Luhur Poten temple
  • 9.00am Back to Sukapura village for breakfast and coffee
  • 10.30am ETD Surabaya/Malang area
  • 01.00pm ETA Surabaya/Malang area & trip finish!

Mount Bromo

Bromo is an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia, located in the Tengger Mountains. It is not the highest summit in the massif, standing at 2,329 meters (7,641 feet), but it is the most well-known. The area is one of East Java’s most famous tourist sites, and the volcano is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Bromo is a Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu god of creation. Mount Bromo is located in the “Sea of Sand” environmental reserve, Mount Bromo has erupted several times, the most recent in 2010.

Tips to travel:

Mount Bromo

  • Dress warmly as temperatures can be cold, especially in the early morning
  • Bring a mask to protect against the volcanic ash and the sand dust from Mount Bromo
  • Bring water during trekking to Bromo crater
  • Respect the local Tenggerese people and their customs
